Parker area residents are once again invited to attend the Police Department’s citizen academy program, which gives participants first-hand information about how Parker’s Police Department operates. Classes will focus on traffic enforcement, accident reconstruction, DUI enforcement, investigations, sex offender registrations, evidence collection/fingerprinting, SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), Taser, Krav Maga (a self defense system), drugs, background investigations, bicycle patrol, animal control, police training program, municipal court, victim advocates and the terrorism liaison program.
The classroom work, combined with field trips and tours, begins Thursday, April 9 and requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for eight weeks. All classes will be held on Thursday nights, with one optional Saturday class at the shooting range.

Participation is limited to 20 people ages 21 and older
