St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, an official Parker Landmark.

In February, the Parker Town Council officially approved the Landmarks Commission’s recommendation to name the Ave Maria Chapel, otherwise known as the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, an official Parker Landmark.

The public is invited to celebrate the new Landmark designation at a special ceremony at the Chapel, 19580 Pilgrim’s Place, on Sunday April 23 at 12:30 p.m.

To be approved for Landmark status, the following criteria must be met:
• It embodies and exemplifies, whether in residential, special purpose or utilitarian form, distinguishing and specific elements of an architectural style or period.
• It is at least fifty (50) years old, and thus qualifies as a “historic”
In addition to meeting the above criterion, the chapel is deemed to retain original design features, material and character and is located in its original location.

There are now13 designated landmarks in the Town of Parker. While some of
the Landmarks are no longer standing, they continue to be landmarked as
places of historical significance.

A self-guided “Historic Walking Tour” brochure is available at Town Hall,
20120 E. Mainstreet. For more information, please call Leah Dawson at 303.841.0353.
