Attention Baseball Coaches Parker, Castlerock, Lone Tree, Aurora, Franktown Colorado

The current 2008 10u AAA Parker Cyclones Baseball Club (1st place AYL 10U AAA division; 3rd place (of 20 top state teams) in the USSSA 10U AAA State Championship) is growing and now seeking experienced and dedicated players to complete our rosters. For the 2009 season, the club will be comprised of 2 age divisions ‚Äď 10U and 11U ‚Äď and will be competing in tournament baseball, as well as participating in league play through Arapahoe Youth League (AYL). Quality players interested in competitive baseball, are invited to reserve an appointment for selection tryouts. Parker Cyclones Baseball Club (a feeder program organization) was created to offer talented and motivated youth baseball players a greater opportunity for future recognition and to play against other competitive teams at a higher level. We are looking for talented, well-rounded and motivated players wanting to play and committed to staying together for several years, forming not only a winning Feeder baseball club, but friendships and memories that last a lifetime. Parker Cyclones Baseball organization is dedicated to more than just developing baseball players. The goal of our program is to create an environment that fosters development of a high level of playing skill and character values, promotes true sportsmanship, encourages teamwork, and instills a passion and dedication for the game of Baseball and life, all in a fun, competitive environment. All players will be considered for all infield and outfield positions and can earn a minimum of 2 positions of play. As our recognized players move into high school play (the foundation purpose of our program), they should be very well prepared (to feeder guidelines) and fully capable of playing at the necessary level. Players will have opportunities to improve their individual baseball skills, as well as learn team strategy, the dynamics of the game itself and advanced fundamentals of play with an emphasis on the teamwork, dedication and perseverance needed to play competitive baseball. A maximum of eleven boys will be chosen for each team. Limited roster spots are available.

Summer Youth Sports at the Parker Rec. Sign up now!

It’s time to think ahead to summer youth sports including baseball, soccer and inline hockey!¬† Seasons for these leagues begin in late May/early June and end in early August.

New for summer 2008 are indoor youth soccer leagues at the Parker Fieldhouse.¬† Register on April 21 for summer coed indoor, grades one to four (recreation only), and summer boys’ and girls’ indoor, grades five to eight (recreation and competitive).

The kinder baseball league for four and five-year-olds meets one day a week for one hour at Challenger Park.  Kinder leagues focus on building skills, learning to work as a team and having fun!  Players will learn to swing and hit the baseball off of a tee.

Coach pitch baseball, grades on to eight, continues to build skills and understanding of the game under the direction of their volunteer coach.  Youth teams will have a one hour practice each week plus one game at various ball fields throughout Parker.  Players must play in the correct grade level based on the 2008-09 school year.

Kinder baseball and coach pitch baseball league registration begins online at on April 16 for the summer season. 

Inline hockey registration also opens April 16.  Parker Recreation is offering a new 3 v. 3 league for grades one to four, plus a high school league.

available in the 5-6 grade girls league as well as 7-8 coed league.  Youth
soccer leagues consist of one practice and one game per week in a
relaxed setting, perfect for introducing your child to the sport.

Take Parker Recreation’s Group Fitness Survey

The Parker Recreation Department invites you to help evaluate its group fitness classes. Customer feedback is essential as fitness staff works to keep ahead of trends, maximize resources, and exceed the expectations of the department’s diverse customer base.

“January is an ideal time to evaluate our class offerings,” says Fitness and Wellness Coordinator Hillary Roemersberger, “Our facilities are busy with people living up to their new year’s resolutions, and we want to know what resources they need in order to stick with their goals throughout the year.” The survey queries topics including preferred class
times, class types and class components.

Colorado Intensity Volleyball Club coming to Parker

The Town of Parker Recreation Department is pleased to announce a
 partnership with Colorado Intensity Volleyball Club.  This new competitive
¬†volleyball club will be housed at the Parker Fieldhouse for its’
 inaugural season.

Tryout Dates for the Junior Girls Program will be held on October 20
 and 21 for girls ages 12, 13 and 14.  Tryout times are from 6 to 8 p.m.

Tryout dates for Junior Girls ages 15 and 16 will be held November 17
 from 3 to 6 p.m., November 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. and November 20 from 6 to
 8 p.m.

Tryout dates for Junior Girls ages 17 and 18 will be held November 17
 from 3 to 6 p.m., November 19 from 8 to 10 p.m. and November 20 from 6
 to 8 p.m.

There is a $50 tryout fee which includes all dates.  For more

Footability Soccer Camp Registration

Enhance your skills during the off season on the Parker Fieldhouse
indoor sports turf, with six weeks of instruction by two former Colorado
Rapids players, Chris Martinez and Rivers Guthrie. Footability is a
soccer company whose focus is to create “difference makers” on the soccer
field, through the use of their revolutionary Base System and Set-Up and
Get-Away Touch Techniques. Focus of this camp will be on dribbling,
juggling, trapping, shooting and small-sided games, designed for the
beginner to the more experienced player.

Classes are held on Mondays for ages four to six; Tuesdays for seven
and eight year olds; Wednesdays for nine and 10 year olds; Thursdays for
11 to 13 year olds. All classes are from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. beginning
Nov. 5 and ending Dec. 20.

Footability camps and clinics compliment other soccer leagues offered
by Parker Recreation including upcoming late fall and winter youth
indoor leagues. Registration for the late fall Youth league begins Sept. 24
and Nov. 13 for the winter league.

Looking for Volunteer Kinder and Youth Basketball Coaches

Parker Recreation is seeking volunteer coaches for upcoming Kinder and
Youth basketball leagues. If you would like to register as a volunteer
coach, please contact the Sports Office at 303.805.6300.

Girls Only basketball introduces girls to this sport with an emphasis
on fun and participation. New for this year will be both an eight-week
fall season and an eight-week winter season. Participants will work on
shooting, dribbling, passing and teamwork. Grade levels offered are
1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.

A Boys Only basketball program will be offered for both the fall and
winter leagues. Since the fall boys program is new this year for most
grade levels, a limited number of teams will be available in the fall as
compared to the winter league. Grade levels offered are 1-2, 3-4, and
5-6. A 7-8 grade league will be offered in the winter.

Both Boys’ and Girls’ leagues consist of one practice and one game each
week with an emphasis on fun and participation. Games will be held
Friday evenings or Saturdays.

The first Fall Kinder Basketball session registration opened online
Aug. 1. This four-week session will take place Friday evenings at the
Parker Fieldhouse, 18700 E. Plaza Drive. The season begins Friday, Sept.
14 and ends Friday, Sept. 28.

Parker Recreation’s Kinder programs are designed to instill a love of
sport into our youngest players, four and five year olds. Leagues focus
on building skills, learning to work as a team and having fun! Kinder
programs meet once per week, combining practice with game scenarios.

This first four-week Kinder session will be followed by two eight week
Saturday sessions, held at various locations, running Oct. 20 to Dec. 1
and again from Jan. 6 to March 1. Registration opens online for the
Oct. 20 session on Sept. 11 and the Jan. 6 session opens online on Nov.

Registration for both Kinder and Youth sports is FIRST-COME,
FIRST-SERVED through our online system. Register early beginning at 6 a.m. on
the date listed for each sport to have the best selection of teams. If
you prefer to register in person, Parker’s Sports Division staff will be
available at the Fieldhouse and Recreation Center, 17301 Lincoln Ave.,
to assist you from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. on September 11
(Fall Basketball) and November 13 (Winter Basketball).

Registration for Fall Programs at the Parker Recreation Center

Fall classes now available for online registration

Online registration is now open for fall recreation classes and
activities. Parker Recreation offers a wide variety of arts and crafts,
aquatics, general interest, parent-child and preschool-age classes, plus
community events and sports for both youth and adults.

To register, go to and click on the online
registration icon. Sign in to an existing account or create a new account for
your household, and begin shopping for classes! If you need assistance
with online registration, please call 303.841.4500. Registration kiosks
are located at the Recreation Center and Parker Fieldhouse, and a guest
services representative will be happy to walk you through the process.

Parker area residents are reminded to check their mailboxes the week of
Aug. 13 for the Fall 2007 issue of the Parker Recreation Brochure,
which lists upcoming classes and leagues and provides information about
facilities and services.
