  1. The Colorado Rapids, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Adidas, and HealthOne are providing boys and girls the opportunity to improve their soccer skills with the Colorado Rapids Soccer Academy Camps.

    The Rapids Academy Camps are run exclusively by the Rapids players and coaches. The camps are for boys and girls ages 5-18 years and will be held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

    2009 Colorado Rapids Soccer Academy Camps:


    This first-year program is for the motivated player who wants to live and breathe the full-time professional environment. Over the six-day Residential Camp, the participants will receive instruction from professional players and coaches at the state of the art Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Specialized training sessions and small-sided games will complement classroom chalk talks that will address topics such as the growing pro-game as well as the college recruiting process. Exhibition matches will be arranged with top local clubs. Off-field activities will include visiting local attractions, including Rocky Mountain National Park. The weekend will be scheduled around a Rapids home match, giving each participant the chance to see the Rapids in action. Join the best from all over the U.S. as they come to Colorado and work with the pros!

    This popular program attracted over 140 kids in 2008 and is an introductory program focusing on soccer and fun. The camp offers four hours of instruction where participants become familiar with the game of soccer and learn the basic skills needed at the beginner level. The emphasis is for all participants to enjoy the game and each other in a pressure-free environment where they play soccer games and activities.

    The Rapids Striker Camp is a unique program that focuses on the most important part of the game: creating chances and scoring goals. This is not just for forwards; it is for any player who wants to improve their attacking skills. Small group sessions are set up to challenge individuals in repetitive game situations where attacking players need to excel: long distance shooting, combination play, 1v1’s, turning and shooting in the box, crossing and finishing, lone striker movement, twin striker movement and three striker movement. Come to the 2009 Rapids Striker Camp and you will see an improvement in your attacking play!

    The Colorado Rapids Soccer Academy is offering the 5th annual Colorado Rapids Development Camp. This camp offers instruction where participants are grouped by age and ability, with the emphasis on individual development. Interaction and coaching instruction by Rapids players and coaches increases learning by giving each individual the very best examples of what it takes to be a quality soccer player, dependable teammate, and good citizen.

    The 3rd annual Colorado Rapids Team Camp provides a unique opportunity for high school boys teams to train and play together before the upcoming high school season. The format, including daily training sessions run by the Rapids Academy Staff and Colorado Rapids players focuses on specifics aspects for that particular team. Sessions are complimented by small-sided games and 11-a-side matches each evening. A round-robin tournament format will be held with the two finalists playing the championship game before a Rapids match! ONLY TEN TEAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED.     This camp provides an opportunity for all youth players to ‘Train Like The Pros’ with a unique combination of fitness training and soccer skills curriculum. All players U-9 through U-18 are welcome at the 3-day camp which takes place August 3-6. The camp will be conducted by the Rapids Strength and Conditioning Coach.

    The 5th annual Colorado Rapids Goalkeeper Camp uses a training format created by goalkeeper specialist that has brought out the best in professional goalkeepers in MLS and internationally. This six week course, led by Rapids goalkeepers, is the perfect system for goalkeepers who want to train and improve their skills in preparation for the upcoming fall season. The Rapids Goalkeeper Camp will be split into two distinct groups focusing on age appropriate training.

    The Colorado Rapids will offer full and half scholarships to the following 2009 soccer camps:

    Kickin’ Kids Camp (Fall and Spring sessions)
    Development Camp (Sessions 1, 2 and 3)
    Striker Camp
    Elite Fitness Camp
    Goalkeeper Camp

    The application deadline for the first round of scholarships for the 2009 Rapids Academy Camps is February 28th, 2009. There will also be a second window for scholarship opportunities that will be open during the month of June. Applications received prior to February 28th will receive a notification of recept. Beginning the first week of March we will be contacting you to set up an interview. When both the application and interview are completed the Colorado Rapids Academy Staff will select the 2009 recipients.

    First Window: January 1, 2009 – February 28, 2009

    Second Window: June 1, 2009 – June 30, 2009

  2. Nothing but Net!

    School’s out! On Monday Feb.16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a President’s Day Basketball Camp will be hosted at the Parker Fieldhouse by Marcus Mason and his Nothing But Net staff for male and female players ages six to 17.

    The camp will consist of fundamentals that will enhance your son’s or daughter’s dribbling, passes and shooting. Camp will also develop players’ ability to play in a team structure while also having fun by playing individual and team games. Campers must bring their own lunch.

    Register online at with key words basketball fundamentals. Camp fee is $45 for the first player and only $35 for a sibling to participate as well! Watch for details coming soon on the Spring Break Fundamentals camps March 23 to 26.
